Sunday will mark Geno Smith’s 30th career start in the NFL and his first since 2014. This will also be the first time Smith will play a complete game under offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, who helped set a franchise record in total yards last year in his first season with the Jets.
“I think he’s learned a lot more football,” Gailey said. “I think he understands a lot more what’s happening in the game in general — what defenses are trying to do, how we need to try to beat them, what we’re thinking.
