Colin Kaepernick will start against the Jets on Sunday, according to San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins.
The announcement comes two days after Kaepernick was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert after going 1-for-5 for only four yards in their 26-6 loss in Chicago. Kaepernick — who took over the job from Gabbert full-time on Oct. 16 and has started the past seven games — also was sacked five times for a total of minus-25 yards.
Despite their 11-game losing streak — a franchise-record — the 49ers coaching staff feels confident Kaepernick and the offense will rebound.
