TAMPA, Fla. -- The Jets need a third receiver. And it looks like they're giving rookie Chad Hansen the first opportunity to step up as the guy.
In Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Bucs, the Jets played Hansen on 48 of the team's 69 offensive snaps (70 percent). He caught three passes for 33 yards -- the first catches of his career. Hansen had an impressive lunging catch to extend a Jets' drive late in the fourth quarter.
The Jets had to do some receiver shuffling this week. The NFL suspended Jeremy Kerley four weeks after a positive PED test, which left New York with just four healthy wideouts on the roster -- starters Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse, then Hansen and fellow rookie ArDarius Stewart.
