Calvin Pryor was noticeably absent from the Jets’ first OTA practice on Tuesday.
There was no word on why the 2014 first-round pick stayed away, but it is possible Pryor was sending a message he is unhappy after the Jets selected safeties in the first and second round of last month’s draft and declined to pick up the 2018 option on his contract.
Coach Todd Bowles said he did not know why Pryor skipped the session.
“It’s voluntary. They don’t have to tell me anything,” Bowles said.
Bowles said Pryor has been around the team’s headquarters this spring.
