Bryce Petty won’t be much of a stranger to the Jets, after all.
The Dolphins claimed Petty off waivers Friday, a day after the Jets released the 26-year-old quarterback. Moving to Miami means he will stay in the AFC East and face the Jets twice a season.
Petty struggled with the Jets in the seven games he started for them, and he became expandable with No. 3 draft pick Sam Darnold joining a quarterback room that also included Josh McCown, Teddy Bridgewater and Christian Hackenberg. Petty, a fourth-round draft pick of the Jets in 2015, failed to impress them enough in his late-season tryout in 2017, completing just 49.
