The Jets were thrilled when Leonard Williams fell into their laps with the sixth overall pick, and Brian Heimerdinger, the team’s director of player personnel, knew exactly what the moment felt like.
“It was like getting your favorite Christmas present when you walk down the stairs on the 25th of December,” Heimerdinger said of the Williams selection on Nashville radio station 104.5 The Zone on Wednesday. “He’s a big, strong, athletic guy. Usually you like to have those guys.”
Brian Heimerdinger is the son of Mike Heimerdinger, the former Titans and Jets offensive coordinator who died in 2011 from cancer.
