Brandon Marshall’s illustrious lateral career is finished

Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall vowed there never will be a repeat of his lateral-turned-fumble against the Eagles.

“I’m never going to try that again,” Marshall said Monday.

Marshall tried to flip the ball to tight end Jeff Cumberland in the second quarter of Sunday’s 24-17 loss to the Eagles. The ball hit Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin in the facemask and was recovered by linebacker Jordan Hicks. The Eagles scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive. Marshall called it “the worst play in NFL history.”

“The only thing positive about that play was the sideline was so close,” Marshall said.
