While most of Jets nation is thrilled that the contract stalemate with incumbent starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is over, the more pragmatic Jets fans still recognize exactly what Fitzpatrick is and what he is not when it comes to playing the position of quarterback in the NFL.
For example: He is a 33-year-old journeyman quarterback who has played for six NFL teams, has a career losing record as a starter (43-61-1) and has never taken a team to, or played in an NFL playoff game in his 11-year career.
To be fair, he also is the Jets’ all-time leader in touchdowns in one season (31) thanks to last year’s performance and is in all likelihood the Jets’ best chance to make the playoffs in 2016.
