This one was oddly strange—even for Bill Belichick.
While on with WEEI in Boston, the New England Patriots suddenly-embattled head coach complimented the 0-8 New York Jets to high heaven.
“They’re a lot better than they were last year,” Belichick said.
Belichick, 68, is accustomed to talking up the opponent. Publicly respecting his team’s next opponent on the schedule is nothing new for the eight-time Super Bowl champion. Keeping it as bland and complimentary as possible is usually the target for Belichick.
It becomes interesting when realizing just how far Belichick traveled to speak kindly about these Jets, the very same team that’s registered just three passing touchdowns through eight games.
