Bill Belichick hasn’t forgotten a short chapter of his past.
During a radio appearance Monday on WEEI, Belichick joked about his brief tenure as coach of the New York Jets, which came to an abrupt end in January 2000, the day after his introductory press conference.
“Adam Gase has already outlasted me,” Belichick said before laughing along with the hosts.
Belichick resigned from Gang Green nearly two decades ago, writing on a napkin, “I resign as HC of the NYJ.”
He went on to coach New England and will chase his sixth Super Bowl ring with quarterback Tom Brady on Feb.
