Bilal Powell’s season and maybe Jets career over in crusher

The Jets lost another player to injury Wednesday, when the team announced running back Bilal Powell was heading to injured reserve with a neck injury.

Powell left Sunday’s game against the Vikings in the second quarter and did not return. His season is now done and possibly his Jets career.

Powell, 29, is second on the team in rushing with 343 yards on 80 carries. He also had 11 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets drafted Powell in the fourth round of the 2011 draft. He is the longest-tenured player on the Jets and the last remaining player from the Mike Tannenbaum regime.
