FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The jaw needed six weeks to heal, but it took 14 months to undo the damage from The Punch.
On Wednesday, the New York Jets returned to life as it was before IK Enemkpali became a household name. Geno Smith is the starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick is the backup and the organization again is in quarterback purgatory. League sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Smith will start Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
This is a bad day for the Jets and everyone involved -- except, of course, for Smith, who gets a 10-game audition (probably less) before becoming a free agent after the season.
