Three days after the Jets failed to make the playoffs, head coach Todd Bowles made some changes.
He fired special teams coordinator Bobby April, who spent just one season with the Jets, along with assistant special teams coach Steve Hagen and assistant offensive line coach Ron Heller, who were the only two holdovers from Rex Ryan’s staff.
The Jets’ special teams were abysmal this season. They gave up two punt returns for touchdowns, had a punt blocked for a touchdown and fumbled a kickoff that was returned for a touchdown.
