EAST RUTHERFORD — The Jets on Thursday night opened their preseason schedule against the Jaguars. The score from any preseason game is meaningless, but if you care, the Jets won this game, 17-13.
Here are nine big-picture takeaways from what happened Thursday:
• Long look at young outside linebackers. The Jets' starting defense played only the game's first series. (And cornerback Darrelle Revis, returning from wrist surgery, didn't play Thursday at all.) But the Jets' two new first-team outside linebackers, second-year pro Lorenzo Mauldin and rookie Jordan Jenkins, remained in for three additional series.
