Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles took over the Jets three years ago, replacing the polarizing John Idzik and Rex Ryan. Since that time, the first-year general manager and coach have experienced some highs, but mostly lows.
There was that devastating, playoff-eliminating loss to the Bills the final week of 2015. A dysfunctional 17-week mess of a season a year later. Finally, 2017's promising, but still underwhelming, 5-11 campaign.
Optimism, though, is high for the future. The Jets have pieces in place to turn this around. They've got three picks in the first two rounds of the draft, and figure to have $100 million in cap space come free agency.
