With the New York Jets seemingly reeling after Monday night's loss to the Chicago Bears, grumblings are once against starting to surface about head coach Rex Ryan's job security.
Per Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, "if (Jets GM John) Idzik fires Ryan after this season, sources say his No. 1 candidate to be the Jets coach is Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, a former Jets assistant under Eric Mangini."
There's a very interesting subplot to this story as well, as former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum is Quinn's agent. That would require former GM and current GM to sit at the same negotiating table in order to get a deal done.
All of this is conjecture at the current moment, as we are just three games into the 2014 NFL season. A 1-2 record isn't enough to send Ryan packing, and the Jets could very well put it all together over the season's final 13 games.
However, the possibility of landing the architect of Seattle's Super Bowl defense still lurks out there if the Jets are looking for a change in the offseason.
