There was some not-so-great news for the Islanders on Monday, when they found out that reliable defenseman Thomas Hickey will miss a month, “give or take,” according a source, with a lower-body injury suffered in Saturday’s overtime win against the Blues.
Hickey was placed on injured reserve, and now with six healthy defensemen, the question becomes who they might call up from AHL Bridgeport to be the extra — or get a chance to crack the lineup.
“I don’t think anybody is the first guy,” coach Jack Capuano said before his team beat the Flames, 4-0, on Monday night at Barclays Center.
