Thomas Greiss, coming off his first shutout of the season, will make his third straight start and the Islanders will look to extend their winning streak to six when they conclude a three-game homestand on Monday night against the Canadiens at Barclays Center.
The Islanders (8-4-1) moved into first place in the Metropolitan Division on Saturday night with a 3-0 win over the Devils. Greiss stopped 35 shots in the victory.
The Canadiens (7-4-2) have lost three of their last five, including Saturday night’s 4-1 defeat to the visiting Lightning. The Islanders will face goalie Antti Niemi rather than former Vezina and Hart Trophy winner Carey Price with the Canadiens also playing the Rangers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.
