The Islanders’ scorers have gone cold, and it’s the chief reason they’ve sunk into a fourth-place tie in the Metropolitan division.
The team has tallied just nine goals in its last six games, a span in which they are 1-3-2.
“When you’re not scoring, it’s frustrating,” John Tavares told reporters after the Islanders’ 2-1 loss to the Bruins. “You’ve got to work through it. That’s all you can do.”
Even the power play struggled on Sunday. The unit, which has been ranked at the top of the league all season, went 1-for-7 with the man advantage.
