It used to be that there was only one preseason game played by either New York hockey team that was must-watch television, and it was against each other. After a nine-year wait, that tradition has resumed.
The Islanders announced their full preseason schedule on Thursday, and for the first time since the Sept. 28, 2007 sideshow at the Garden, it includes a contest against the Rangers. The game will be a 7 p.m. start on Oct. 4 at Barclays Center.
The game from 2007 included at least four different fights, and got very little accomplished in terms of the intention of preseason games.
