Tavares scores Twice as Islanders Pick Up Win in Weight’s First Game Behind the Bench

NEW YORK — All it took was two goals from John Tavares, an empty net goal from Calvin de Haan and a 22 save performance by Thomas Greiss for the Islanders pick up a 3-0 victory over the Dallas, and their first win under new head coach Doug Weight.

And while the Islanders only scored one goal, they managed to put up xx shots on Dallas Stars starter Kari Lehtonen, which included outshooting 26-13 in the final two periods alone. The Islanders looked a team with a purpose out of the gate and generated opportunities throughout the night.
