There is plenty of concern that restricted free agent Brock Nelson will not be at training camp, but Islanders captain John Tavares doesn’t seem too worried.
“I’m not too concerned,” Tavares told ESPN’s Craig Custance, “I believe it’ll get done.”
The reported deadline for Nelson to get a deal done is September 16, which is a week away. Newsday’s Arthur Staple reported last Thursday that an offer to Nelson has been on the table for weeks.
With the time ticking away for something to get done between the two sides, the Islanders signed Steve Bernie to a tryout contract for training camp.
