Suddenly the Islanders are short a few bodies

This could be a problem.

The injury bug is hitting the Islanders at a difficult time. They lost forwards Valtteri Filppula and Cal Clutterbuck to upper-body injuries during a 5-0 loss to the Bruins on Tuesday night at the Coliseum.

Coach Barry Trotz didn’t have any immediate update on either player, but if they lose Filppula, they will be rather short at center. That was already seen when Casey Cizikas missed the previous two games with a lower-body strain, returning for this one after Leo Komarov had done what he could down the middle for the previous two.
