The Islanders have re-signed old man forward Steve Bernier to a two-year, two-way deal. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know... Terms were not disclosed (yet).
Bernier spent all of last year in Bridgeport and, in fairness, was having a good half season before a shoulder injury cut his time short.
Bernier, 32, had 16 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for the Sound Tigers before a torn labrum and bone chip in his shoulder at the all-star break forced him to have season-ending surgery. His stated goal, not surprisingly at all, was getting back to the NHL, but he was a key veteran for Bridgeport in all situations in the first half last year.
