Following the Tri-City Americans’ loss in the WHL playoffs to the Mathew Barzal-less Seattle Thunderbirds, defenseman Parker Wotherspoon will move on to the AHL.
The 2015 fourth round pick was assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers by the Islanders today, starting his pro career in earnest on a team still trying to secure a playoff berth. Michael Fornabaio reports that Wotherspoon probably won’t play in Bridgeport’s next game on Tuesday morning. He played six games for the Sound Tigers last season.
Wotherspoon had a helluva final season in junior, scoring 66 points (10g, 56a) in 69 games and finished a stellar career with the Americans setting new team records for career assists for a defenseman (150) and career points for a defenseman (182).
