When it comes to winning championships, the Western Conference has ruled the National Hockey League for a while. Except for one instance, that’s the way it has been since 2010, and the perception around the league has been, come the Stanley Cup Final, the East just can’t compete. The only team to break that Western Conference stranglehold was the Boston Bruins in 2011, when they defeated the Vancouver Canucks to win their first title in 39 years.
