VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Garth Snow didn’t want to surrender his first-round pick in this year’s draft and wanted to shore up his forward depth. In the closing minutes before today’s 3 p.m. NHL trade deadline, he was able to do both.
Snow acquired young forward Shane Prince from the Senators and a 2016 seventh-round pick for a 2016 third-round pick, hoping that the 23-year-old can provide a small spark to an inconsistent Islanders offense.
Prince, a native of Rochester, New York, was the Senators’ second-round pick in 2011 and had three goals and nine assists in 42 games with Ottawa this season.
