Ryan Wins Battle of the Stromes in Brooklyn

Johnny Boychuk scored a shorthanded goal early in the third, and the Islanders did the rest. The Isles clamped down defensively the rest of the period, and they edged the Coyotes 3-2 Friday to earn their first regulation win of the season.

Early on, it looked like the Isles were finally going to have a breakout game. Dennis Seidenberg scored a beauty of a wrister 4:45 into the first period to give the Islanders the early lead. It was just Seidenberg’s 40th goal of a career that spans 763 games.

About 9:45 later the Islanders went up 2-0, Ryan Strome put one home in front of his brother Dylan Strome on the ice for Arizona, and his parents in the stands.
