Resilient Islanders Down Capitals In Overtime

The New York Islanders, after spending the duration of the third period on their backsides in game three of the opening round of the NHL playoffs, rose up and finished off the Washington Capitals 15 seconds into overtime on a John Tavares tally to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

After playing a near carbon copy of  game one in Washington, sprinkled with a ton more physicality,  New York was nursing a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes only thanks to the heroics of Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby, who was magnificent returning from an illness that shelved him for game two.
