RALEIGH, N.C. – The Islanders, in advance of opening their Stanley Cup-or-bust season on Thursday night against the Hurricanes, seemingly have locked up their top-pair defensemen for the long term.
TSN reported late Wednesday night the Islanders are close to finalizing an eight-year extension with Ryan Pulock that will be worth close to $50 million and will run through 2030.
Adam Pelech is in the first season of an eight-year, $46 million deal agreed to this offseason.
Both are 27 years old.
Pulock is completing a two-year, $10 million deal and quite possibly could have demanded a much higher annual average value if he had become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
