Preseason: New York Islanders 3, 3, Philadelphia Flyers 2, 5

The New York Islanders split their split-squad preseason games against the Philadelphia Flyers Monday night, with each roster conveniently conceding for the home team.

Brooklyn: NYI 3, PHI 2

In Brooklyn the Isles held on for a 3-2 win after opening a 3-0 lead through goals by John Tavares, Anders Lee and newcomer Kirill Petrov, the 2008 draft pick making his first appearance in an Isles uniform. Lee's was a power play goal assisted by Tavares and newcomer Marek Zidlicky.

The Flyers got two goals back in a 2:24 span bridging the end of the second and beginning of the third periods, but that was all the scoring.
