Postgame brawl could be fitting final note for the Coliseum

A chippy Game 6 ended with a fight after the final horn, as the Islanders and Capitals brawled near center ice following the Isles’ 3-1 win at Nassau Coliseum.

Several Islanders were unhappy with Washington’s John Carlson, who they felt took a late, high shot at goalie Jaroslav Halak as the game was ending. A brief melee ensued, resulting in nine penalties.

Asked if he thought the referees would set a different tone in Monday’s Game 7 in Washington, Isles coach Jack Capuano nearly scoffed.
