The ZSC Lions announced that Swiss forward Pius Suter will join the Islanders in training camp. Suter had 39 points in 36 games in the NLA last season. He also played in the Olympics for Switzerland and had five points in four games.
Suter is not new to American ice - he previously played two seasons in the OHL for the Guelph Storm from 2013 through 2015 where he had 96 points in 127 games. He was particularly good in 2014-2015 with 43 goals and 29 points in 61 games as an 18-year-old. He still went undrafted thanks to concerns about his size and physicality.
