Andrew MacDonald spent just over two months riding buses with kids born in the mid-1990s, often playing three games over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, logging huge minutes and trying to stay focused. He also kept cashing checks that will amount to his $5 million salary, the highest-paid player in the minor leagues.
That was until MacDonald was recalled by the Flyers on Monday, suiting up and playing his first NHL game of the season Tuesday in Philadelphia against his old team, the Islanders. His first shift, the Islanders scored a goal. It was a welcome-back moment out of a horror novel.
