NHL Draft 2018: New York Islanders Select Oliver Wahlstrom, Noah Dobson

With the 11th and 12th selections in the 2018 NHL Draft, the New York Islanders had their choice of several prospects they likely didn’t expect to be available when their turns arrived.

One of them was Oliver Wahlstrom, a sniping right wing they selected with the 11th overall pick. Wahlstrom can’t be mentioned, it seems, without mention of a “viral” video of his slick lacross shootout move as a nine-year-old. But he’s a bona fide natural sniper and promising offensive prospect who has excelled with the U.S. National Team Development Program (40 goals and 80 points in 53 games) and is bound for Harvard.
