For the first time since 1988, the New York Islanders have home ice advantage in a playoff series. The Islanders magical season finished up last night with them getting points 102 and 103 on the season, their highest point total since 1984.
After the Penguins were able to get a point against the Rangers, we found out that the Islanders would be taking on Pittsburgh in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The teams have played four times this year and the Islanders are 2-1-1 in those games. While the Islanders have the slight edge on the season series, the Penguins are still nothing to scoff at.
