The New York Islanders had the same head goaltending coach for the last eleven years in Mike Dunham, and he’s been replaced by former NHL goaltender Fred Brathwaite.
Brathwaite played for four NHL teams in his career. The Calgary Flames, the St. Louis Blues, the Columbus Blue Jackets and, most important of all, the Edmonton Oilers between 1993 and 1996.
Where he met none other than current New York Islanders head coach Doug Weight and newly appointed Islanders assistant coach Luke Richardson and Kelly Buchberger. Add Jason Arnott and Shayne Corson and we’ll have the full set of the 1993-94 Edmonton Oilers.
