On May 22nd, 2018, the New York Islanders announced that they’d finally found a man to be their President of Hockey Operations. Former Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello was given the title previously held by Garth Snow.
His job was singular in focus: return some credibility to this franchise. Doing so wasn’t going to be easy. The first few months of his tenure faced some high-highs and low-lows.
On June 5th he fired both head coach Doug Weight and GM Garth Snow, then installed himself as GM. Snow’s 12 year clutch on the Isles seat of power was finally over.
