Right out of the gate the New York Islanders got a struggling Thomas Greiss in 2017-2018. In the very first game of the year in Columbus got a five spot hung up on him in 31:50 of gameplay. That immediately set the tone for the season.
In 15 of Greiss’ 27 games this year he gave up four goals or more. He gave up five goals on seven occasions and six goals twice. That’s unacceptable.
Greiss’ final line for the season was a 13-8-2 record with a .892 save percentage and a 3.82 goals against average.
