The New York Islanders announced on Sunday that Tanner Fritz will be out for 6-8 weeks as he recovers from a surgery to remove a blood clot from his hand. A disappointing end to his season that was trending in the right direction.
After Valtteri Filppula was ruled out for four weeks with an upper-body injury, Tanner Fritz was called up by the New York Islanders from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to take his place as the team’s third line center.
With 37 points in 57 games for the AHL Sound Tigers this season, Fritz good enough for a call-up and was obviously looking forward to stepping up to the NHL.
