New York Islanders set to hire Toronto Maple Leafs assistant Jim Hiller

The New York Islanders are on the verge of repairing their most apparent deficiency last season — the power-play.

Hearing former TOR assistant Jim Hiller will be joining NYI coaching staff. A Lamoriello favourite.

Since 2014, Jim Hiller has been tasked with the Toronto Maple Leafs powerplay. Cumulatively, since the 2014-15 season, the Maple Leafs have the 11th-best powerplay in the NHL.

Given with news that the Anaheim Ducks hired Dallas Eakins to be the team’s new head coach, Lane Lambert will not be the possible departure this hiring could insinuate.
