The offseason is officially underway, and general manager Garth Snow has began by re-signing one of the new acquisitions from last summer.
Dennis Seidenberg makes a welcome return to the New York Islanders. Playing mostly with Calvin deHaan last season, the veteran defender helped bring new elements out of deHaan’s game and was easily the most reliable defensive pairing for most of October — December.
The $250,000 raise was well-earned for the defenseman, tallying some clutch goals in key situations throughout the dreadful Autumn stretch that buried the Islanders. The deHaan-Seidenberg pairing was one of the only highlights of that time-frame.
