When you select someone in the fifth round of the NHL Draft you normally expect it to be a while before they make an impact on your NHL roster. That wasn’t the case for Sebastian Aho, he was the rare exception.
With the 139th pick in the draft, Sebastian Aho was drafted by the Islanders. Aho reported to the AHL to start off the season with the Sound Tigers.
In his first North American appearance, Aho thrived right away from the jump. In his first 40 games in the AHL Aho produced 29 points (9 goals, 20 assists).
