So the New York Rangers signed their second big piece as part of their rebuild. Defenseman Jacob Trouba is now under contract for seven years and carries an $8 million cap hit. How does that affect the New York Islanders?
Well, Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock might look at that deal and say: “That could be me next year.” And it really could when you look at the numbers.
Sure, Pulock didn’t score 50 points yet. But before that 50 point year nor did Trouba. Before that Trouba was at best a 33 point player. On the podcast this week, Matt and I discussed if Pulock could earn that kind of money, would he get that kind of money from the Islanders, and what would he need to do to get there?
