Howie Rose was the TV play-by-play for the New York Islanders for the last 21 years. For 21 years he was a regular feature in our households. He helped us see and understand a sport that runs at the speed of light.
Not only was Howie the play-by-play for the Islanders but he also provides the radio play-by-play for the Mets. Meaning he rarely gets time off. When hockey’s over, the baseball season is already in full swing. It’s a cycle that just never ends.
Howie deserves the semi-retirement (he’s going to continue calling games for the Mets).
