Doug Weight has performed admirably since being named the interim coach of the New York Islanders. Given the reigns, after longtime bench boss, Jack Capuano was let go in January.
He has a 23-12-4 record as he took the Islanders from the bottom of the East to the cusp of the playoffs.
But that doesn’t change the interim tag stuck to his name. Or the fact that he might not even want to be a coach.
So if the Islanders have to start a coaching search int he offseason because Doug wasn’t a fan of being a bench boss, the Isles should start with Lindy Ruff.
