New York Islanders: Jared Spurgeon Deal Impacts Pulock and Toews

In 2008, it was the New York Islanders who drafted Jared Spurgeon in the sixth round. He never played with the Islanders as Garth Snow and company never signed him. In 2010, the Wild signed him to an ELC and he’s been there ever since.

Over the last three years, Jared Spurgeon has put up 38, 37, and 43 points respectively. He’s heading into the final year of his contract that carried a $5.19 million cap hit, and Bill Guerin decided to pounce on the idea of signing the soon to be 30 year old to a seven-year deal.
