It was an ideal game all-around for the New York Islanders who sprinted at the start of the night and never slowed down.
After dropping the home opener to the Washington Capitals 2-1, the Islanders responded with a rounded effort. Strong defensive structure and a noticeable improvement in the faceoff dot were the two primary weapons for a refreshed Islander team.
The Jets pushed and the Isles got little leaky in the third, but Greiss was strong and sealed a very nice first win of the season.
