The New York Islanders win streak came to an end last night, but the team got three goals from their bottom six. After a ton of criticism for bringing in multiple bodies for their bottom six, the Islanders third and fourth lines have had a productive start to their season.
Valtteri Filppula scored again last night, his fifth goal in 14 games. Filppula is on pace for 29 goals this year, obviously, that’s going to slow down over time but his start to the season can’t go unnoticed.
He’s almost halfway to his goal total from last year just 17 percent through the 2018-2019 season.
