Last season was one that Thomas Greiss would like to forget. The New York Islanders netminder had a save percentage below .900 and a goals against average of 3.82. He was arguably the worst netminder in the league.
Well, this summer he worked with his old goalie coach, and the New York Islanders brought in Goalie Guru Mitch Korn as the director of goaltending. Perhaps it helped, as Greiss was flat out dominant in game one.
Similar to last year, Greiss was under siege for almost the entire game. He made some highlight-worthy saves and put himself in good position, something that wasn’t happening last season.
